The passion of the horse
The Serein stud farm is a recent, pleasure-oriented breeding operation. We have built up a quality broodmare herd, prioritizing functionality and aptitude for classical dressage while preserving the breed's morphology, which has been appreciated for centuries for its elegance.
We have selected a herd of mares from diverse bloodlines, including Bohorquez, Marin Garcia, José Luis Escalera, and Guardiola, sharing common traits such as conformation, movement, and temperament. Our foals are medium to large in size and are broken in using the Blondeau method, including fillies intended for breeding.
Convinced of the mare's primary role in passing on her qualities to her foals, we break in and ride our mares to understand their aptitudes. Some of these mares are descended from the best fillies in our breeding program. We retain complete freedom in selecting, in France and Spain, the most suitable and complementary stallions for each of our broodmares. Therefore, the stud farm does not have any breeding stallions.
AN IDEAL SETTING
Fed on the rich grass of our meadows, Crau hay in winter and compound feed adapted to breeding, our horses also benefit from walks in our bocage landscapes of Auxois, forests and lakes of Morvan.
Foalings are monitored using the Easyfoal system, foals are protected from birth by plasma and followed by an orthopedic farrier at least every 2 months.
The farm is located in the heart of Burgundy, halfway between Paris and Lyon and a few kilometers from an exit of the A6 motorway.
